emPOWER is the source of inspiration, motivation and education for women (and men) wanting to improve their lives.
Before submitting any article to emPOWER, please ensure you read some recent issues of the magazine as well as articles published on the emPOWERonline.com.au website to ensure you familiarise yourself with our flavour and style (if you are unfamiliar with the ‘feel' of emPOWER it is unlikely that your article will be written to our style and less likely that it will be published).
We look for articles that will assist our readers to improve any or every area of their lives. As a coaching magazine we provide insightful questions and practical guidance to our readers to help them help themselves. As such, all articles should be practical and not just theoretical. It often also helps to include an example, case study or exercise.
We welcome articles written around the following themes: YOU - Improving a readers relationship with themselves; assisting a reader to love, appreciate and respect themselves more; assisting a reader to achieve greater happiness.
SPIRITUALITY - Assisting a reader to connect on a deeper level spiritually; educating a reader on different areas/beliefs of spirituality.
RELATIONSHIPS - Helping a reader to improve their current relationships with partner, family and friends; assisting a reader to attract a partner.
WELLBEING - Educating readers in the area of health; motivating readers to improve their health and wellbeing.
FITNESS - Motivating a reader to improve their fitness; assisting a reader to achieve a greater level of fitness
CAREER - Assisting a reader to improve their career or have the courage and confidence to seek a new one; assisting readers to find their professional passion.
BUSINESS - Assisting a reader to grow and improve their business.
FINANCES - Helping a reader to determine their desired level of financial freedom; Educating a reader in the area of finance; assisting a reader to improve their financial position.
INSPIRATION - Inspiring readers through your personal story of overcoming adversity
emPOWER's editorial guidelines • Articles submitted for emPOWERonline should be approximately 600 words in length and no more than 800 words. • Articles submitted for emPOWER Magazine should be approximately 750 words per page, ie. If you wish to submit a double page article, please provide at least 1,500 words. • Please include a heading for your article • Please include an Introduction to your article (otherwise known as a ‘sell'). This is the first short paragraph following the heading. To see the elements of an article click here. • Remember that your article needs to be about the reader for the reader. This is not an opportunity to talk all about yourself. The reader must be able to relate to your article and feel that they can benefit by reading it. • When writing an article, it is a good idea to personalise the piece where possible, by talking to "you". Consider that you are having a conversation with the reader and avoid talking about "we", "us" and "our". • Always remember to include a brief ‘bio' about yourself for inclusion at the end of your article. You bio should be no more than 50 words and should tell the reader about your expertise as well as how they can contact you if they want more information. Include your bio whether this is the first or tenth article that your have contributed. • It is highly unlikely that your article will be published without editing. emPOWER reserves the right to edit any contributed article and will not refer back to you in this respect for approval.
Self promotion emPOWER WILL NOT publish articles of a promotional or advertorial nature. Please do not mention personalities, or the products and services that you are attempting to sell in your work. Become an expert in a particular area and your buyers will find you. Your work MUST be your own. • When you are quoting the work of another, please use quotation marks, acknowledge your source and provide full references. • If you are using the internet for research, please practise caution when relying on the sources of information. You must ensure your sources (online and otherwise) are reputable and accurate. • It is important that you consult your sources first hand. Please do not rely on a source that you haven't spoken to yourself.
