It has been said that human beings are the only species on the planet that can transform their lives over and above genetics or personal circumstances. In now knowing that, imagine the type of life that you could live if you followed this belief? I am sure you are familiar with Oprah's story, background and upbringing and look where she is now! It is a perfect example of this. On the other hand some people can think that they are doomed for a certain lifestyle or position in life due to some reason such as genetics or upbringing. In taking on a new belief it will allow you to be, do and have anything you set your mind to! What belief do you have about your past and future? It can be tricky you know it's the beginning a new year and we have made some huge scary goals, we need to maintain the momentum required for change. It has been said that change can happen in an instant when you choose it. When we first embark on a new change we may come across the mini me or little voice inside your head that pops up and says ‘I don't think you can do it' or ‘I'm not good enough' or ‘I'm scared.' We all have the same (well not exactly the same) voice inside our heads that tries to protect us and keep us safe. I can be sure that most of the people you are inspired by in your life battle with the same fears and doubts! In knowing this, how does that change your approach towards your goals? Do you want to be the one who inspires others to live and move towards their dreams or do you want to stay stuck where you are in this moment? So how do you tackle the mini me you ask? The first thing to do would be to acknowledge that it is there. Say thankyou for their opinion and ask yourself - will this voice or words move me closer to or away from my goal. You realise that you want to resign from your current role and move into something that is closer to home and closer to your children. That voice pops up. Do you want an easy life or do you want an inspiring life? You need to make a promise to yourself that ‘I am now in a position close to home.' Another way would be to make a financial commitment to a dance or gym class that is close to home that requires you to turn up every single week. Another way would be use the support network around you to hold you accountable for your goals and the steps to make those goals a reality. When you are making a career move it is truly important to surround yourself with people who already have what you want and who will encourage you every step of the way. A commitment is when you swear or promise to produce a specific result. If you have this commitment then the dedication and action will follow. It is this very dedication that will transform the what ifs and mini me's into a voice that outlines a to do list or the next possible step to make it your reality. It may be to introduce yourself to a new member of the community, drop in your resume to a few places closer to your home or make that phone call which is overdue. Whatever it may be it is important to now trust this new voice and take action when the steps appear before you. We all have the capacity to be committed to an awesome career. Take a look at your career as it is right now. This is exactly what you have been committed to. If you made a new choice then you would have a different result! Wishing, waiting and wanting things to be different never creates positive changes in our lives. You are capable of having the career where you leave you mark and that leaves a legacy for your children. All of this can be yours right now!
