Wouldn't it be great if you knew the reason why you get out of bed everyday and where you were working towards? I attended a weekend seminar last month and the first night was something that changed my life forever. This activity that I went through assisted me in the reasons why we do what we do whether it is in business or working for an organisation. I think it is easy to get caught up in the day to day busy-ness and forget what life is really about. Your Ideal Day What were the highlights for you in 2010? What were those things that you can look back on the year with that sense of achievement and contribution to your family? As women it is important to take the time out for ourselves and reflect on those things that make you proud, proud to be a wife, a mother, a friend or daughter. Take a piece of paper right now and list those things that have made 2010 a great year for you. Remember those moments that you had that feeling of being ecstatic. See what you were seeing, hear the sounds around you and increase the feelings that you were feeling (especially if they were amazing!) In reflecting on 2010, who were you being, what were you doing and what results do you now have in your life? In reading empower you may or may not be familiar with the Be, Do, Have model. What projects did you start? What things did you maintain? What types of activities did you complete? It can be said if you started a number of projects that you are clear on your identity - who you are and what you stand for as a person. If you maintained things in your life it can be said that you enjoy what you are doing! If you do not complete the things you want in your life, you do not have the results and the life that you were born on this earth to have! For me, I fell into the not finishing activities list! I am working on finishing or completing the small things in my life to get into the habit of having the things that I truly want in my life. For example, finishing an entire bottle of shampoo or toothpaste and emptying out old clothes from my wardrobe. Now let's go back to those ecstatic moments - those where you experienced intense positive emotions that you will remember forever. What were you doing at the time? Who were you with? What emotions were you experiencing? What actions did you take to make that moment happen in your life? How can you use that moment to create the change that you want so badly in your life right now and for your compelling future? Take some time to record these moments in a diary, photo album or even in a technological device whatever that may be for you. Now if we go back to the beginning of the article where I was talking about your ideal day - the day that once you've had it you will know that you have made it! In creating your ideal average day think about who you will wake up with? Where do you live? What do you have for breakfast? What do you talk about? What do you do for work? How do you travel to work? What types of things occupy your morning? What are the people like you work with? What do you have for lunch? What is discussed in the conversation? What occupies your time after lunch? What impact do you have on the lives of the people around you? What time do you finish your day? What do you have for dinner? Who do you eat with? What things do you do in the evening? Who are the friends in your life? What do they do for a living? What difference do you want to make to this world? What legacy do you want to leave behind for your children? Type up this day and put it where you can see it everyday and it will allow you to make career decisions that will lead you to moving towards that day faster and faster. Happy New Year!
