What is Modeling?
Modeling is studying someone who is excellent at what they do and learning from them how they do what they do to have the same results in your life. This could be in your career or your life in general.

Modeling is a common term from Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). It can be achieved by studying another person's values and beliefs, how they think and what they do until you can replicate the same results. Isn't that an easier way to move up the corporate ladder?

How to Choose a Model
When looking for a model you will want to choose someone who achieves the results you want with minimal effort and maximum ease. This person and their actions must have similar values to you. Who do you know within your network who has the career that you would like and has the same values as you?

Job Shadowing
You will want to spend time with your model as they perform their work. Absorb everything that they do. Observe each action, listen intently to what is being said and feel what it is like to be in that position. The purpose is to take it all in like a sponge and accept everything that is happening as the fastest way to the top! Imagine that you are a child who accepts everything uncritically and repeats the exact things that they are seeing. This is the mindset that we want to adopt when modeling. When can you book some time with your model to see how things are done?

Implementation - Take Action
After studying your model you will need to take action. Do what you have observed without questioning it. Notice the steps that are required to achieve the results. You may begin to notice how you sit is important, the language that you use and how you sound. These actions may be the criteria that are essential to the successful modeling of the perfect career or job. What actions can you take today that demonstrate your commitment to become your model?

Conscious Awareness and Competence
After a period of unconscious practicing, the results you seek will begin to appear with less and less effort. You will become aware of the results that you are getting and the steps required for success. Are your actions getting the results that you seek?

Transferring Excellence
When you have successfully uncovered the steps to excellence you are ready to share your knowledge with others. One of the best ways to cement your learning is to teach or train another person so that they can have the same results as you! You will know you have succeeded when your student can replicate the same results as you. Who do you know who would be interested in learning about everything that you have learnt?

Modeling in a career or any aspect of your life is the fastest and easiest way to achieve the results that we want in our lives.
