As a coach it is so important to really hone in on a target market and niche yourself. The more focused you are when establishing this, the stronger your brand will become. You can really dilute your brand by remaining too broad. People love to know that they are working with an expert, someone who specialises in that specific area. Just as it is vital to have a niche, it is also imperative that you know what your message is. Your message will strengthen the niche that you have carved out for yourself, assist to anchor you as the expert even more and above all else, get the results you are intent on creating. Your message will become what you stand for! As a coach you are more than likely someone who is committed to making a difference. If you were being the truest expression of yourself out there in the world, what difference would you be making?? What is your intention for what you would like to make possible out there in the world? If you are aware of your intention and your message then you will remain congruent with this, which means that your message will be consistent and strong. Once you are clear on your intention- your message will have a strong vision behind it and will be spoken loud and clear. You can use your voice in many ways- as a speaker, an author and a coach. To really make a profound difference as well as to make your brand even more well known it is vital that you have a voice in each of these arenas. You will have an awareness of the area that you would like to make the biggest difference in and an idea of what it is which will make the biggest difference in that area, this is what you will teach and this will then become your intellectual property. For example; there may be two coaches who specialise in working with couples to create a massive transformation in their relationship- one coach may assist the couples with this by assisting them to change their values and have their values become congruent with each other. Another coach may do this by working with the beliefs that each person has and assisting them to change the way that they perceive each other. The results may be similar, however the methodology to achieve these results is different. It is this different methodology that separates these two coaches and becomes part of what creates that niche, who they work with, how they work with them and how they position themself in the market place. The thing that makes you different. This is your message. What is your message? What is the difference that you want to make in the world? To achieve the results that you want your target market to achieve what would you need to communicate to them? Your message is communicated in your methodology and the strategies that you use with your clients to have them create the results. It is also communicated in who you are and your branding. You must be aware of who you want to be in the world, the message that you want to communicate so that it is consistent in everything that you do. If there is no intention there then it can become diluted. With a clear intention you are halfway to achieving the result. How do you want people to feel when they listen to your words? How do you want people to feel when they interact with you? How do you want people to feel when they come into contact with your brand? How do you want people to feel when they read a piece of your marketing or are contacted by you through social media? Your voice is your greatest link to the world. Everything exists in communication. People only know you based on who you tell them that you are. What do you believe to be the most important thing that you have to communicate? Are you fully self expressed as a person, as a coach, as a speaker? What do your words communicate about who you are in the world or what you are up to? So, set an intention and think about what you really stand for. Elicit your strategy and incorporate this into your message, get out there and start speaking and make that difference you are committed to making!! Have fun!!
